Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is confirmed thanks to a Nintendo Direct! It’s coming to Switch next year, and will bring back the 2011 Wii game as a re-release.

In this Switch version, Kirby will sport new copy abilities, and there’s local play for up to four players. Everyone can be Kirby this time, denoted by different colors of Kirby models. A collection of minigames is available, including Magolor’s Tome Trackers, and Samurai Kirby. Four-player play is confirmed for all minigames.

Nintendo has some further details for us: “The heroic puffball’s Wii game is returning … this time in deluxe proportions! One day, a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Planet Popstar. To help the mysterious Magolor, Kirby and his friends set off on a captivating quest. When inhaling certain enemies, Kirby will gain access to a wide range of Copy Abilities – with the new Mecha Copy Ability making its debut! The game supports multiplayer for up to four players on the same system by sharing Joy-Con controllers. Plus, everyone can play as Kirby at the same time while using their favorite Copy Abilities! There’s also a collection of subgames to play, including returning ones like Samurai Kirby and new ones like Magolor’s Tome Trackers.”

It’s out on February 24, 2023, and really, I can’t wait! The original was fantastic as a good clean Kirby game, and it’s about time my wife and I fully replayed it.
