If you’re like me, you’re good and ready for the console release of King of Fighters XII on the PS3 and Xbox 360 this July. A big draw is going to be the online play, and today we have a breakdown of what options and battle types will be available.
Fights can go down globally, with no regional restrictions in both versions. There are online lobbies where up to eight players can get their arcade on, with two fighting while the others watch and wait for their turn. Voice chat and text are supported for full trash talking.
There are several lobby settings available:
- Winner stays: winner gets next fight
- Loser stays: loser takes on next opponent
- Sparring: randomized action
- Player match: no stats are recorded, just for fun
Online ranking and leaderboards grade each player’s performance and assigns a letter grade. This and their best time attack times are displayed on public leaderboards.
There are slight differences in the two versions: the PS3 lets players create clans, recruit clan members, blacklist players, and fight in clan wars. The Xbox 360 version has the exclusive on TrueSkill, letting players record, replay, and share matches. Check out screens of both versions’ menus in our gallery below.
