It’s time once more to go dark, yet darker. The June 2026 Nintendo Direct confirmed that Deltarune Chapter 5 is coming soon. The game’s third and fourth chapters dropped just over a year ago, ending with the promise that fans would see the next installment before the end of 2026.
So before the next page of Toby Fox’s quirky tale of light, dark, and fate turns, let’s hammer down exactly when you’ll be able to play it.
Deltarune Chapter 5 release countdown
Deltarune Chapter 5 goes live worldwide on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The countdown below will expire once the game is available.
The countdown is based on the following times. If you haven’t checked what time zone you’re operating in, make sure you do so before Deltarune Chapter 5 comes out.

These times come directly from Toby Fox’s most recent newsletter, and I doubt the chapter’s release date and time will change. That said, if that dastardly rascal Tobias Vulpine plays one of his infamous pranks and releases the game early, I’ll adjust the date and times in this guide accordingly.
What to expect from Deltarune Chapter 5?
In case you don’t know or need a reminder, Deltarune follows Chris, a young human growing up in a town populated by monsters. Many of Chris’s friends, family, and neighbors are returning faces from Toby Fox’s previous game, a little title you may have heard of called Undertale.
Alongside his bully-turned-bestie Susie and the mysterious “Prince of the Dark” Ralsei, Chris travels through various “Dark Worlds,” subliminal pocket realms based on areas of his hometown, to stop the monstrous Roaring Knight from unleashing the unfathomable horrors buried beneath the Dark Worlds. Or at least, that’s the short version of it.
Across the previous four chapters, Deltarune has woven quite a multilayered tale. Cryptic lore, secret characters, and ominous implications haunt every chapter, and beneath all the whimsy lies a chilling narrative about missing teens, forcibly repressed feelings, and the terror of growing up in a world where your choices don’t seem to matter at all.
If the myriad hints Toby Fox’s been seeding are even a little true, Deltarune Chapter 5 will be a crucial point of no return in the game’s overarching story. All signs point to the chapter’s plot revolving around a festival the game has been building up to since Chapter 2, and fans are already unearthing secrets from the game’s trailer and official website that paint a pretty grim picture of the events about to go down.
We also know that the wait for Deltarune Chapter 6 might not be as long as it seems. In the same newsletter in which he announced Deltarune Chapter 5, Toby Fox confirmed that development of the game’s sixth chapter is well underway. He even hinted that if things continue to go well behind the scenes, development of the game’s seventh and final chapter will begin before the year ends.
