King K. Rool’s beatbox throwdown

True story: the first game soundtrack I ever owned was DK Jamz. I ordered the cassette through Nintendo Power’s Super Power Supplies Catalog, back when mail orders took upwards of six weeks or more. God, do I love the Internet today.

Where was I? The soundtrack, right. It was pretty marvelous. Everyone knows and loves the “DK Island Swing,” of course, but “Gang-Plank Galleon” stuck with me in a big way. A 30-second pirate jig that turns into this badass, drum-fueled jam, it’s one of my favorite final boss themes ever!

Then Japanese beatboxing virtuoso Hikakin comes along and friggin’ owns the song. He does things with that mouth of his that ought to be illegal. Give him a listen!
