As you know, the Wii was the number one console for January. Not only did Nintendo have the number one console, but they also had the number one selling game with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Four other Wii games made it into the top ten last month which were Wii Fit Plus, Mario Kart, Wii Sports Resort and Just Dance. We can blame Ellen DeGeneres for Just Dance selling so much.
Second place went to Mass Effect 2 and three other Xbox 360 games made the top ten including Modern Warfare 2, Army of Two: The 40th Day and Darksiders. The only PS3 title to make it in the top ten was Modern Warfare 2.
While the top ten isn’t all that surprising, MAG and Bayonetta both managed to crack the top 20. This is really good news for Platinum Games. I was worried Bayonetta wouldn’t get the attention it deserved, but thankfully gamers are giving it a chance. It doesn’t hurt that there’s sexuality pouring out of ever orifice in the game, either.
