It’s the beginning of the end for Scrolls

Mojang’s card game has a year left

No, not The Elder Scrolls, silly. The other one! Just “Scrolls.”

Microsoft-owned Minecraft studio Mojang has confirmed the inevitable — that work is winding down on its card title now that the “last major content patch,” Echoes, is out. “We won’t be adding features or sets from now on, though we are planning to keep a close eye on game balance.”

Scrolls is still being sold, “for the time being,” with purchases fueling work to keep the game “playable for as long as possible.” The development team promises that servers will be operational until at least July 1, 2016, which is more of a heads up than companies typically give.

Frankly, I’m surprised Scrolls has lasted this long under Microsoft.

It’s been a Blast Automaton! [Scrolls]
