It’s one shot, one kill time with Fortnite’s new Heavy Sniper Rifle

Just don’t miss, that’s your job

Snipers in video games. Love ’em or hate ’em there’s no denying that that long-distance role is amazingly popular. This can be a good thing, guiding your team to glory from afar with a series of staccato, perfectly-placed headshots, or, like a lot of multiplayer snipers, they can be a total waste of a slot, panic-firing with reckless abandon and hitting nothing, all the while thinking they’re Tom Berenger.

Regardless, the biggest game in the world, Fortnite, is about to get an extra reason for players to hunker down at a distance, with the debut of the Heavy Sniper Rifle. This new weapon can cause high levels as damage to structures as well as skulls, capable of bringing down support beams in quick time – and hapless victims even faster.

In fact, as this tweet from @FNBR Leaks shows, the Heavy Sniper appears to have the ability to one-shot basic ramps, floors and walls. Yikes. The compensation for these insane destructive capabilities comes in the form of a lengthy reload time, especially when compared to weaker alternatives such as the Bolt Action. Better make every shot count there, Deadeye.

The Heavy Sniper Rifle goes live today. Fortnite is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Switch and iOS and Android devices.
