Is there a level cap in Fantasy Life I?

Everything in life has a limit.

Although Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Life has numerous regions to explore, 14 Lives to experiment with, and powerful items to unlock, even it has some limits. There’s a level cap for every Life that, although challenging to attain, brings you closer to achieving 100 percent completion.

What is Fantasy Life i’s level cap?

Fantasy Life i’s level cap is 100 per skill. Every Life has their own rank, level, and perks to separate each other, with 100 being the limit for each. In short, even if you reach level 100 in one Life, you have 13 more to progress through until you’ve truly mastered every skill.

In the original Fantasy Life, the level cap was 99, with its skills capping at 15. Purchasing the Origin Island DLC increased these limits to 200 and 20, respectively. At the time of writing, no Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Life DLCs are available aside from the Deluxe Edition’s cosmetic and mount additions. Nonetheless, there’s a good chance any future ones that arrive will also raise the game’s level caps.

All Fantasy Life i Life ranks

Alongside Life levels, you can also rank up each skill to unlock new abilities in your Skill Board. While a Novice or Apprentice in a skill will mostly have max HP, SP, and damage to rank up, advancing to Adept and beyond unlocks several new skills.

Below is every rank you can achieve for each Life:

  • Novice
  • Fledgling
  • Apprentice
  • Adept
  • Expert
  • Master
  • Hero

Like with levels, each Life has separate ranks and quests associated with them. For example, if you’re proficient in magic, you can rise up to Hero-rank Magician quickly while still being a Fledgling farmer or artist. You have to complete each Life’s respective quests and receive reports from Life Masters to rank up rather than progressing everything at once.

The original Fantasy Life also had Legend, God-in-training, and God ranks through its DLC. However, Fantasy Life i has yet to implement this at the time of publishing this post. As future DLCs arrive, there’s a chance we’ll see the same ranks as before, letting you progress beyond Hero rank.

How to level your skills quickly in Fantasy Life i

The best way to quickly level up your skills in Fantasy Life i is to invest points into your Skill Board as often as possible, find high-level resources that match your Life skill level, and upgrade your tools whenever possible.

To put this into perspective, while you won’t be able to break level 50 ores at level 10 mining, you can easily do so at level 30 if you have a strong pickaxe and invested points into traits like increased damage to Sweet Spots, more SP, and skills like Bedrock Smash. Even if you’re at level 10 mining, you don’t necessarily have to stick to level 10 or lower ores if you have decent gear and a companion or two to help you.

The most important aspect is your equipment. Lives like the Blacksmith can help you create new high-quality tools for your character, but you can also claim more by ranking up your Lives. Every time you rank up a Life, your Life Master will give you a rank-up reward, which usually includes leveled gear. If you haven’t upgraded your equipment recently, this is a solid way of doing so as you complete personal quests and increase your levels.
