In IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator, you can calculate the shell charges and the required traveling distance on your own. The same also applies for the turret elevation angle (although you have a computer to do that for you).
Shell Charges and distance calculation

Charges for all shell types work in the same fashion. In the real world, this isn’t the case, but we are ultimately discussing a game over here. Powder charges determine how far your shell can travel after you shoot it. The longer the distance to the target, the more charges you’ll need to use.
- Up to 5 km: One charge
- Up to 10 km: Two charges
- Up to 15 km: Three charges
- Up to 20 km: Four charges
- Up to 25 km: Five charges
- Up to 30 km: Six charges
To find how many meters the shell can travel per single degree of turret elevation change, divide the range (distance) by 60 degrees. Here are the corresponding values for each category.
- One charge: 83.33
- Two charges: 166.66
- Three charges: 250
- Four charges: 333.33
- Five charges: 416.66
- Six charges: 500
Elevation algorithm

The first task is to determine the distance of your target on the map. This automatically tells you the required number of charges based on the requirements mentioned above.
Next, divide the distance by the meters per degree mentioned above. You’ll get your correct gun turret angle. Here’s a simplification of the process with a calculation.
- Distance: 14750m
- Charges required: 3
To get the correct degree, here’s the equation that will get you the right angle.
- 14750/250=59
Turn the gun to 59 degrees and fire the shell. That’s how you can work out the correct turret angle without ever making a mistake.
