If you wait, some rain dries up in Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild rain

Yet another ‘have never seen this’ moment

Typically with games writing you’ll see a lot of hyperbole: but with Zelda: Breath of the Wild, at least as far as I’m concerned, it’s the real deal. Take these Breath of the Wild rain effects!

Puddles in Breath of the Wild are reactive, in that little areas can fill up with water, then dry over time. A few folks have shared their stories, like using this concept to wait for an area to hold water, then proceed to use Cryonis to get an out-of-reach chest.

The “Days without Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 News” Twitter account showcases this wonderfully, with a time-lapsed set of images. I tracked down the source, and it’s another one of those “a lot of people must have seen it, but I know a lot of others haven’t, either.” Clearly the latter category isn’t alone, as the post, which was created just a few days ago reached roughly 15,000 likes very quickly.

Well, if you like watching paint dry, it’s something else to do while we wait for the sequel! Speaking of, the sequel has a lot to live up to, and I don’t envy the developers. Not only are people going to want improvements to mechanical elements from the original, if the engine doesn’t do stuff like the aforementioned Breath of the Wild rain effect, there will be direct comparisons.
