Itās over. Iām done. Iām all out of hopium, and copium, too.
For years, gamers like myself have been dreaming and hoping for a remaster or remake of Bloodborne, FromSoftwareās 2015 PS4 masterpiece. The want for it is palpable, but alas, it is now dead and buried, just like my dreams. And my nightmare.

A new report by Bloombergās Jason Schreier details what went on behind the scenes at the doomed Bluepoint Games, which was recently shut down by Sony just a few years after the company acquired it. And unfortunately, itās put the nail in the coffin for any Bloodborne excitement the dreamers had left.
āFans had been dreaming of aĀ BloodborneĀ remake for years, and the idea had been strongly considered and at one point was even expected within Bluepoint but never entered production,ā Schreier said of the studio responsible for the excellent remakes of Demonās Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, plus a lot more.. āIn early 2025, when Bluepoint again pitched the idea ofĀ BloodborneĀ remake, the studio was told that the numbers made sense, but FromSoftware didnāt want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process.ā
And here we are now, with the realization that one of the best games ever made is stuck on the PlayStation 4 when it could be brought to PC, or even PS5, to enhance and re-live the experience that many believe is FromSoftwareās best workāeven ahead of games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls.
It feels like the blame here is on Sony, even if the decision came from FromSoftware and creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Schreier opined that at one point, according to former PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida, Miyazaki was interested in doing a remake or remaster. But the creator likely wants to do it himself and ādoesnāt want anyone else to touch it,ā which is fair.
The complications arise from the fact that Bloodborne was born from a collab between FromSoftware and Sony, the latter of which owns the IP entirely. Itās been caught up in discussions and denials and closures and would-be scenarios ever since. And now, it feels like itās truly just not going to happen.

Modders have been working on ways to emulate Bloodborne on PC (itās currently playable if you have the desire to make it happen), and fan projects updating it to 60 FPS and more have come and gone or even been shut down. But as for an official, up-to-date, remake or remaster with updated visuals and framerates or more, I have given up.
Last year was Bloodborneās 10th anniversary. I was so sure weād get some kind of news, and it appears we almost did. But for now, good Hunters, the dream and the nightmare have come to an end. Or is it just beginning?
Either way, itās time to move on, whether we like it or not. At least until the powers that be somehow realize what they (and all of us) are missing out on and get the damn thing done. Iām not holding my breath anymore.
