How to trade stickers and stars in Monopoly GO

Trade stickers with others to get seasonal album prizes

In Monopoly GO, sticker trading, commonly known as card trading, helps you complete albums and gain rewards. Completing every album can earn you tens of thousands of dice, making it worthwhile to exchange cards with others. Here’s how to trade stickers and redeem star rewards in Monopoly GO.

Monopoly GO offers two ways to trade stickers: giving to others and through safe exchanges. Below is an exact step-by-step to initiating a trade:

  1. Head into your Monopoly GO album menu
  2. Pick an album and choose a duplicate sticker
  3. Select Send to Friend and pick the player you want to trade with

From this point, you have two options. If you trust the person you want to trade with, you can continue with the trade immediately without any issues. You’ll give the card to the other player, who will receive it once they log on to Monopoly GO.

However, if you’re active in the trading community and want to stay safe, you can activate an exchange instead. In the friend selection menu, you’ll find an option labelled “make an exchange”, which initiates a safer trade between you and the other player.

By doing this, you won’t trade the sticker immediately; your friend has to accept the trade, select their sticker, and wait for you to confirm the selection. That way, you know you’re receiving the card you want and can decline the trade if they attempt to scam you.

Watch for scams

Unfortunately, while many Monopoly GO players are here to play the game and finish their albums like you, some have other intentions. You may occasionally run into people who plan to initiate unfair trades to gain your stickers without giving anything in return.

There are multiple ways you can try to combat this:

  • Whenever possible, trade with people you trust or have exchanged stickers with previously.
  • Stick to sticker exchanges if you don’t know the player you’re trading with.
  • Watch the card they give you and make sure it’s the exact sticker you asked for.
  • Use resources like the Official Monopoly GO Discord’s trading guide for details on reputation systems and scammer reporting.

Generally speaking, be careful when trading with players you don’t know, especially if you’re new to trading.

Why can’t I trade Gold Stickers in Monopoly GO?

You can only trade Gold Stickers if a Golden Blitz event is active. During Golden Blitz, two gold cards will appear, allowing you to freely trade them with others as you would a regular sticker.

However, this is only available for 12-hour periods and typically occurs a few times a month. In other words, there is a possibility you’ll miss the chance to trade your gold card. Keep an eye on your in-game Monopoly GO events to make sure you don’t miss them.

In Monopoly GO, star trading is a short way of saying duplicate sticker trading. Giving someone a card they already own will reward them with stars instead, which they can use to redeem sticker star reward crates. The process for trading stars is the same as exchanging stickers, with the only difference being that, instead of completing an album, you or the other player will get stars.

As you collect more stars, you can use them to redeem sticker star rewards by tapping on the crate icon in your album menu. Here, you’ll find three crates with various rarities and costs.

The exact rewards and costs differ with every passing season. Typically, the lowest value is around 250 stars, with the most valuable crate at 1,000. The rewards you get range from a few hundred dice to wild stickers, making it worthwhile to save up your stars for higher-tier crates.
