How to stop Stalker attacks in Helldivers 2

The only good Stalker is a dead Stalker.

God damn, do I hate Stalkers. Few things in Helldivers 2 frost my expendable ass more than getting a surprise tongue-lashing from one of those camouflaged bastards. Thankfully, you can work to stop Stalker attacks in Helldivers 2 by finding and destroying their Lairs.

As mentioned, stopping Stalker attacks requires you to destroy their hidden Lair in Helldivers 2. It’s easier said than done, especially in harder difficulty modes. Lairs aren’t shown on your mini-map until you track one down. You need to find it while also dealing with other enemies and ninja attacks from the Stalkers. Thankfully, wiping the things out is about as cathartic as you think.

Stalkers are territorial and seem to only attack when you’re near a Lair during a mission in Helldivers 2. You may be so lucky as to spot them first. They usually approach while camouflaged and attack as soon as they get near. But typically, you’ll know one is around the moment your feet and ground have a sudden difference in opinion.

A Stalker Lair is nearby and it’s up to you and your team to go find it. During high-difficulty missions, it may be too much to handle if you’re already besieged by dozens of bugs. But it’s usually worth the struggle, not just for the Samples but for the grim satisfaction of putting the monstrosities in the dirt.

To find a Stalker Lair, you need to fan out in the area you spotted the bug. The Lairs themselves are morbid, grotesque obtrusions made of stone and sinewy slime. You should be able to spot one by its look and the glow from the bug hole.

Watching the chat window is also a good idea, since the game will tell you if you or an ally stumbles on a Lair.

If you’re having trouble, you’ll have to search. A Stalker Lair normally doesn’t show on the mini-map, but I’ve had luck finding one within a small proximity of the initial attack. Sometimes, approaching a Lair will cause its location to appear as a question mark on the map.

A Stalker Lair can also be a Secondary Objective, and locating one causes its icon to show on the map for you and your allies to keep track of.

Once you find the Lair, you can destroy it by tossing a grenade into the bug hole, aka Hell’s doorway.

Or, if you’re feeling especially pissed off, you can use something with a bit more panache.

Either way, destroying a Lair will stop Stalker attacks within the proximity in Helldivers 2. There may be more than one Stalker Lair on the map, so stay vigilant.
