How to sell and claim stolen horses in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Horses aren't cheap.

Horses are usually quite costly in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Although you can get a couple of horses for free during the main storyline, most are available from various vendors around the map. Fortunately, if you’re a stealthy thief, you can turn an expensive purchase into a potential money-making method.

How to steal horses in KCD2

Stealing horses in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a quick and easy process if you stay hidden from other characters. As you approach a horse, you’ll find a “mount and steal” option, letting you mount the horse and run away from potential onlookers.

However, doing this risks getting caught, especially in the middle of the day with many NPCs around. If you’re not particularly stealthy, waiting until nighttime, when fewer people are around, will lower your odds of getting caught. Being in a smaller town makes your chances even better. Otherwise, if you’re experienced in stealing items, lockpicking, and sneaking around private properties, you shouldn’t have too much trouble taking a horse.

Once you’ve successfully stolen and run away with a horse, bring it to the Nomad’s Camp west of Zhelejov. Here, you’ll find a character known as Horse Handler Mikolai, who’ll purchase any horses you’ve stolen. You can access this by bringing a horse near Mikolai, speaking to him, and selecting “Horse Black Market.”

If you tell him you want to sell the horse, he’ll tell you how much he’s offering. You can then accept, deny, or haggle for a higher price. You’ll usually get a few hundred Groschen for the horse unless it has exceptional (or awful) stats.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to sell the horse and instead want to keep it as a trusty companion, you can choose the “Acquire” option under Mikolai’s horse black market menu. He’ll tell you he can help you arrange it, but you’ll have to pay a hefty fee. Like before, you can accept his offer, deny it, or haggle for a reduced cost.
