How to romance Sarah Morgan in Starfield

The science of love.

Space may be lonely, but that doesn’t mean it has to be. Starfield introduces you to quite a few friendly faces, and a few are single and ready to mingle. For those who fell for the British-accented Sarah Morgan who introduced you to Constellation, here is how you can romance and marry her in Starfield.

Bring her along on your adventures

To romance Sarah Morgan, or really anyone in Starfield, you’ll naturally need to keep them by your side for a good portion of your adventure. This should be an obvious step, but keep Sarah as a companion and take her on main quests. Every so often, she’ll ask that you spend a few moments to speak to her about a recently finished mission. Often enough, these are your best chances to get to know her.

Conversations with romanceable characters also help you learn their likes and dislikes. Yes, like many narrative games, doing something that goes against your companion’s nature will negatively affect their affinity toward you. On the other hand, certain conversation choices and actions will cause them to like you a bit more. You’ll know you did something right (or wrong) when a notification pops up on your screen. As a hint, you can use the Paramour item or unlock the Leadership skill to increase affinity faster, but I don’t believe that’s necessary to put the romance on Sarah Morgan.

Learn Sarah’s likes and dislikes

Sarah is a serious and pragmatic person who keeps her past to herself. She has a dry sense of humor and enjoys the occasional witty joke. Sarah considers herself a scientist, so choose logic-based answers in conversations. For example, you might get dragged into a heated debate in the Lodge led by Matteo, who believes dreams are what pushed humanity into space. Hint: choose science. She’s also empathetic, so showing kindness to those less fortunate makes her happy. Sarah also likes it when you take her on side quests that help others. There are a couple quick tasks you can take in The Well in New Atlantis. Do the quests for the House of Enlightenment and the MedBay.

Sarah dislikes violence and deceit. Attempting to kill anyone out of spite will cause her to run off while exclaiming she won’t help you commit murder. Sarah also dislikes theft. So if you’re a space pirate, you might find it difficult to get her to like you.

Flirt and be someone she can emotionally rely on

During some conversations, you’ll get the chance to hit Sarah with a cheeky wink and corny line. In conversations, click on the reply that starts with [Flirt]. Sarah Morgan clearly bristles at your attempt at romance — at least at first. She warms up over time, but something is clearly preventing her from reciprocating. Keep taking her on quests and following the aforementioned advice until she begins to open up a little about her past. Sarah carries some deep scars, so pick conversation options that show her you’re there for her no matter what.

You can’t continue to romance Sarah Morgan until you finish her quest

Every companion you can romance has a personal quest you must complete before they’re willing to take the next step. For Sarah, the companion quest is called ‘In Memoriam,’ which takes you to Cassiopeia I. I’ll avoid spoiling the mission, since it is quite an emotional roller coaster. Once that’s complete, keep taking her along and flirting until your affinity level reaches ‘Friend.’

After a while, Sarah will ask you to speak with her. During a conversation in front of the waterfall at New Atlantis, you’ll be able to choose the ‘Commitment’ option after she talks to you about her family. Congrats, you’re now engaged!

How to marry Sarah Morgan in Starfield

Once you become engaged, you’ll need to wait a day or two until she requests another conversation. She’ll say she’d like to get hitched in the lovely Paradiso. Sarah desires a small ceremony, which means no Constellation members are invited (sorry, Barrett). You can suggest inviting her mother, but that’s up to you. Sarah will give you a commitment gift after the vows are exchanged.

You can divorce her, if you think things aren’t working out. To do so, open up a conversation and scroll down to the option that let’s you discuss your marriage. Tell her it’s time to move on, and keep at it until the bonds are severed. You won’t be able to remarry her, but you can bring her back as a companion after waiting a day or two.
