How to restore all regions in Lightyear Frontier – Required tool upgrades

Clear a path.

Lightyear Frontier doesn’t have much of a story per se, but it does include what you can refer to as an overarching mission geared toward world progression. Here’s how you can restore all regions in Lightyear Frontier, with the needed tool upgrades.

That mission I mentioned is opening a massive door, behind which is a mystery. To start unlocking it, you need to begin completing missions about restoring the corrupted regions of the game. Doing so requires you to upgrade two tools necessary to finish the job.

Restoring the world of Lightyear Frontier to its proper place requires you to upgrade both the Vacuum Harvester and Irrigation Hose. The tools are found during the game’s tutorial where you wander about gathering your lost equipment.

Mech tool upgrades needed to restore all regions in Lightyear Frontier

Mech tools such as the Vacuum Harvester, Irrigation Hose, and Spike Saw have three tiers:

  • Default
  • Power I
  • Power II

You have access to the default tool levels at the start, but must gather materials for the later tiers.

There are six regions with ‘Restore’ missions in Lightyear Frontier. Below is a list of the tool upgrades you need to clear them:

The other regions in the game don’t need to be restored.

How to upgrade the mech tools in Lightyear Frontier

The regions you need to restore are choked with Noxious Weeds, Noxious Slime, or both, which is where the vacuum and hose come into play. The slime or weeds can be resistant to a tool’s current level, meaning you’ll have to upgrade first.

To upgrade your mech tools in Lightyear Frontier, you have to build an Upgrade Depot. To find its blueprint, you must gather Stone and Aluminum, the latter of which is found in abundance in Pine Heights. For more on how to build the Upgrade Depot, check out our guide.

The the depot in place, you can start working toward your upgrades.

Here are the upgrades and the materials required:
