Link is back with another adventure, though he, fortunately, has a few more tricks up his sleeve this time. The new fuse ability lets players unleash their creativity and find unique ways to overcome obstacles. Before Link goes out to explore Hyrule, some basics must be learned, including how to make a fire in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Luckily, there are multiple methods available, so Link will almost always have some way of sparking a flame.

Method 1: Transfer Fire

As Link is out exploring, he will occasionally spot fires that have been created by other Hyrulians. Some of these campfires will even have a pot over them, making them useful for cooking. If players want to start their own fire, they can simply use the existing fire. This can be done by grabbing a wooden weapon (this includes, tree branches, thick sticks, and more) and bringing it toward the flame. The weapon will catch fire, allowing Link to carry the flame elsewhere. The weapon won’t burn indefinitely, so new fires can only be started nearby.

Method 2: Use Weapons

If there are no existing fires around, all hope is not just yet. Link can also use his weapons to start a flame. To do this, Fire Fruit is required, and it can be found throughout Hyrule. When a Fire Fruit is fused to an arrow, it will burn its target. A Zonai Flame Emitter can also be fused to weapons to make fire. The Fuse ability is unlocked by visiting the In-isa Shrine, which is one of the first shrines Link reaches.

Method 3: Use Flint

The most old-school way of starting a fire is to use flint and some wood. Flint isn’t too hard to find, and it is available bountifully in caves. Sometimes, it can also be located near cooking pots. Wood is also easy to obtain. All Link needs to do is chop down a tree using an axe or sword. After placing the flint and wood beside each other on the floor, striking the flint with a metal or stone weapon will start a flame.

What Is Fire Used For?

Fire is extremely useful if Link uses it correctly. As previously stated, fire can be used to cook. By cooking ingredients, more benefits are gained. Cooking monster parts produces elixirs that help Link. For example, some elixirs keep him warm, and others replenish his stamina. Flaming arrows can also be used to deal devastating damage to enemies. And once the paraglider has been unlocked, Link can also take advantage of the updrafts produced by fires to lift off.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom allows for more creativity than ever, and fire is just one of the elements that can be used to help Link solve problems. With the right tools, players can start fires anywhere, allowing them to cook, keep warm, or take to the skies.
