You’ll love the fan in Tears of the Kingdom

Making a fan inĀ Tears of the KingdomĀ is a useful task in the game. You can use it to propel ships with flags on them across large stretches of water. In Breath of the Wild,Ā fans are items you can pick up. However, inĀ Tears of the Kingdom,Ā you actually create fans. Here’s how to do it.

The step-by-step process

In order to create a fan, you’ll first need to unlock the ability to fuse. You get this from one of the introductory shrines you encounter: the In-isa Shrine. Once you get there, you’ll learn that you can fuse sticks and rocks together to create a powerful hammer. It can steamroll through the rubble like a knife to cheese.

Once you exit the In-isa Shrine, you’ll want to find two items: a Tree Branch and a Korok Frond. You can usually find both fairly easily around the open world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Once you have those two items, go to your items menu. Next, select the Korok Frond from the Materials section of the menu and equip the Tree Branch. Drop the leaf on the ground by holding them and then pressing A.

Hold the L button and select “Fuse” to begin the process. Select the Tree Branch to be fused with the Korok Frond. You now have a fan for your adventures in Hyrule. It’s known as the Korok-Frond Guster. Don’t rely on it as a weapon though. “It doesn’t do much damage but can serve as a weapon in a pinch,” says the Korok-Frond Guster’s text in the game.

One of the best uses is to keep one in your back pocket for locations (and shrines) with sand: you can wave the Guster at sand piles to scatter them!
