How to install the ComSpike Module in Starfield

We'll show you where to stick it.

You’re deep into the Crimson Fleet questline, and now it’s time to reach the Legacy. But first, you need to prepare. The Legacy is caught in the gravity of an EM gas giant. Getting too close means your systems get fried and you end up in the same predicament. To survive the storm ahead, you need to learn how to install the ComSpike Module and eventually make away with the biggest cash prize in all of Starfield.

You’ve had the ComSpike since making away with it in the mission, The Best There Is. Now that you began Eye of the Storm, the pirate boss Delgado wants a word. He’s freaking out that UC SysDef is finally taking the threat of Kryx’s Legacy seriously and they’re poised to attack. It’s now or never to get to Bannoc IV and claim the money. You need to install the ComSpike Module on your ship before you go.

Use the Starfield ship editor to install the ComSpike Module

You get the chance to install the module by speaking with Jazz before you leave the Key. Chat her up and choose the dialog options “Mind helping me with my ship?” then “I’d like to view and modify my ships.” Once you’re in the ship editor, open up the ‘Ship Builder’ option and look for an open spot. Install points on ships are marked with a bright blue icon. You can install the module on any one of these anchors, granted you have the overhead room.

To find the module, open up the ‘Equipment’ menu. You’ll find the ComSpike there along with the Conduction Grid, which also needs to be installed. Attach them both to your ship and back out of the menu. You’re ready to head to Bannoc IV.

Can’t find the ComSpike Module?

If you can’t see the ComSpike Module in the Equipment section, then you might have to swap ships. When I tried installing the module in my own run, I couldn’t find the damn thing. I spent minutes scratching my head, thinking I had done something wrong. It wasn’t until I changed ships that I found it in the menu. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if my ship wasn’t compatible. All I know is that it wouldn’t work until I made the change. If you’re having issues installing the module, swap and try again with the Frontier. It worked perfectly fine for me.
