How to get the Good Neighbors achievement in Stardew Valley

Keeping this adorable family happy is hard work

Of the nine new achievements added into Stardew Valley with update 1.6, while ‘Good Neighbors’ might not be the most difficult to get, it’s certainly a little convoluted and involves a lot of steps and a lot of waiting.

To achieve this achievement, you need to help Mr. Raccoon grow his family. This involves not only getting him a wife but also no fewer than seven children to share his stump. The good news is that Mrs. Raccoon is a vendor, selling all four varieties of new crop seeds in exchange for various items and additional items for every step of this quest that you complete.

Each step of this quest comes in the form of a request, and, unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly which items you’re going to need to give the Raccoon to complete the request. Items are randomized to an extent, but they do seem to follow a pattern, so I can help to some degree.

One piece of advice that I can give is that you’ll definitely need the Smoker and the Dehydrator, as Mr. Raccoon repeatedly requests Smoked and Dried items during this quest line. You’ll also need a Keg to make juice and a Preserves Jar to make Pickles.

Before you can begin bringing items to Mr Raccoon, you’ll need to complete the Big Tree quest. Once this is done and Mr Raccoon has found a wife (presumably through some kind of Raccoon dating site), you’ll have eight requests to fulfill.

You’ll need to wait seven days after completing each of these requests before you can begin the next, so this entire process will take you 56 in-game days to complete this quest line and get the achievement.

Like I said, these requests can differ from person to person but in three separate playthroughs of the Raccoon’s quest, this is the pattern that I’ve picked up on. I’ll update this if anything changes or I notice something different.

What does the Raccoon’s Wife sell?

Unlike other vendors, Mrs Raccoon doesn’t want your money. As you’d likely expect for a Raccoon, she wants Seeds and Trash items in exchange for her wares. This can be quite confusing, but here’s everything you need to know.
