How to get the Black Scales Highland Drake in WoW Dragonflight

Surprise, it’s a reputation reward

Recommended Videos

Since the beginning of time (well, World of Warcraft‘s time), reputation rewards have been a constant. “Rep grinding” is a phrase that I’ve heard hundreds of times throughout my life, especially from collectors. And it’s something that’s very much alive and well in WoW Dragonflight: especially if you’ve had your eye on the Black Scales Highland Drake. Here’s how to get it.

You can get the Black Scales Highland Drake at the Obsidian Throne in The Waking Shores

Thankfully, you don’t need to level up two different reputations like you have to do for the Loyal Magmammoth mount. Instead, both quartermasters at the Obsidian Throne will sell the Black Scales Highland Drake for one Awakened Earth, and 400 Dragon Isle Supplies (which isn’t a bad cost): provided that you are at the “True Friendship” level (which is where the grinding comes in). Samia Inkling is located at coordinates 24.7, 56.8, and Lorena Belle is located at coordinates 25.2, 55.8 (both at The Waking Shores).

One of the easiest ways to raise your friendship level is through the “Keys of Loyalty” regular questline, which appears right below the awning where the aforementioned quartermasters are. You can see it on the map above denoted as a “?” icon. This is a group quest that folks will have no issues finding a party/raid for.
