LEGO Fortnite has a ton of different resources and materials you will use to craft and build. One of the earlier more important resources in Planks. You will need Planks to build some of the most important buildings in the game, so you will need to know how to get Planks in LEGO Fortnite.
How to craft Planks in LEGO Fortnite
In order to craft Planks in LEGO Fortnite, you will first need to build a Lumber Mill. Building a Lumber Mill requires 8 Wood and 15 Granite. You can find both of those resources scattered around your starting area, with single pieces of Wood showing up as sticks and branches, and Granite showing up as little rocks. If you craft a Pickaxe or Forest Axe at your Crafting Bench, you can also mine larger Stone nodes and chop trees for more Granite and Wood.
Once you have built the Lumber Mill, you can interact with it to assign it recipes. One of the recipes on the Lumber Mill is Planks. You can set your Lumber Mill to convert Wood into Planks at a 1:1 ratio. After assigning the recipe, you can then add as much Wood as you want to the queue which will start converting it to Planks. It takes a few seconds to convert each Wood to a Plank. Once it’s done, make sure you click the button to Take the Plank off the Lumber Mill which puts it in your inventory. This is the best way how to get Planks in LEGO Fortnite.
How to fix Lumber Mill not working
In my experience, coincidentally or by design, right when I plopped down my Lumber Mill it started raining. Unfortunately, the Lumber Mill will not work while it is raining. Thankfully you unlock the ability to build an actual building at the same time you learn how to build a Lumber Mill. You can choose to wait out the rain, but if you’re like me you may be a little impatient and want to get started using the Lumber Mill right away.
If that’s the case, simply build a foundation, floor, walls, and roof. Make sure it’s big enough to house your Lumber Mill, and then put it inside your new structure. This will cause it to no longer be in the rain, which will let you use the Lumber Mill and start making Planks.
