How to get paper in Nightingale

Prepare stacks of paper for card crafting

If you plan on progressing into Nightingale and unlocking portals to explore different regions, you’ll need some ink and paper to begin crafting Realm Cards. While you’ll primarily need wood bundles to make some, there’s more to it than crafting this material in your inventory.

How to craft paper in Nightingale

To make paper in Nightingale, you must purchase a simple saw table blueprint from the Essence Trader for 55 Essence Dust before building the structure using wood bundles, stone blocks, and animal fibre. Once you have your saw table, you’ll need two additional wood bundles to make 12 pieces of paper. If you need multiple paper sheets, you’ll need enough wood to craft each set.

To get wood bundles, you’ll need an axe to chop down large trees and obtain their logs. While a makeshift axe works fine, a stronger one will help you get wood bundles quicker.

Once you have some paper, you can make Realm Cards to use in portals to travel to different worlds. Each card requires one piece of paper, but since you get 12 for every two wood bundles you use, you should have plenty for crafting. Nonetheless, expect to revisit your Enchanter’s Focus regularly to make more paper as you locate portals and progress through Nightingale’s quest line.

If you plan to make Realm Cards using your paper, you’ll also need ink from a mortar station. To do this, you must purchase blueprints for the mortar station and smelter before using your saw table to make lumber, smelter to create glass, and the mortar table to make pigments. You’ll take these ingredients from here and make your alchemical ink, which you combine with paper and Essence Dust to craft Realm Cards.
