How to get False Swipe TM 057 in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Catch 30 Pokemon and go to school

Back to school! Well, maybe for some of you, school is out forever. But in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you occasionally need to go to school (the academy) to pick up on some of the game’s biggest items/secrets. In this case, heading to Jacq in the biology lab will net you False Swipe (TM 057), after a bit of legwork.

Catch 30 Pokemon, and Jacq will give you x3 False Swipe at the academy biology lab

The academy can be annoying to navigate, but all you need to do is go into one specific classroom with the NPC Jacq.

First, you’ll need to capture 30 Pokemon, which you can check on your Pokedex screen for completion. After that, go to the academy (pictured in the map above), then go to the PC right next to the front desk in the main hall. Select “biology lab,” then go to the purple-haired Jacq in the right-hand corner of the room.

If you met the aforementioned requirements, Jacq will grant you three False Swipe TMs for your trouble. False Swipe (a normal attack) is described as “a restrained attack that prevents the target from fainting. The target is left with at least 1 HP.”

It’s a crucial ability for catching Pokemon and filling out your Pokedex, as you can False Swipe a level 1 Pokemon with a Level 100 party member, and still let your prey live.
