To get Clay in Lightyear Frontier, you need first craft a Grinder. The Grinder is an early-game construct used to break down and create grounded resources like Red Stone Dust. Clay is crafted from Stone Dust, which is made from regular ol’ Stone you find lying on the ground.

Use a Grinder to make Clay in Lightyear Frontier

Using the Grinder, making Clay is easy in Lightyear Frontier. You first need to grind Stone into Stone Dust. Enter the Grinder menu and click on ‘Stone Dust’ in the ‘Available Recipes’ list. You make two Stone Dust with just one Stone, but you have to wait a minute for the Grinder to do its thing. The Grinder will work on one Stone Dust at a time, but you can add five more to its queue. It will keep pumping out materials until the queue is empty.

With Stone Dust in hand, you can now make Clay. Take the dust to your Assembler and choose the ‘Clay’ option. It takes one Stone Dust to make one Clay, and crafting is instant with the Assembler. After you get Clay, you unlock quite a few new blueprints and recipes.

The Garden Gnome is premium, no doubt, but it’s arguably not the most important item you get with Clay. No, the blueprint you’ll want the most this early into the game is the Furnace, which is used to create even more goodies.
