The 25th anniversary for Halo: Combat Evolved is being celebrated in a glorious way.
Halo: Campaign Evolved remakes the original game’s campaign with glorious Unreal Engine 5 visuals and a bunch of quality-of-life changes, like tweaks to encounters, the ability to sprint, new weapons, and the added ability to hijack vehicles.
Some players are supposed to be able to hop in with Master Chief five days early, but many are encountering issues accessing the early access for the Premium Edition of the game. Here’s what we know.
Halo: Campaign Evolved early access not working
The early access to Campaign Evolved appears to be hit or miss in the hours following its launch on July 23 at 10am CT. The full game launches on July 28, but those who bought the Premium Edition are supposed to be able to play five days early.
Some players are getting in just fine, while many others are having problems accessing the game, and a lot of them are reporting issues with the Xbox version on console and the Xbox App on PC. There doesn’t appear to be a a concrete fix just yet, but the access is available for some lucky enough to get it to work. It appears to be something that is rolling out over time, and the error lies on the side of Microsoft, and not the players.
It appears that the issue has to do with overarching server problems for Xbox services, according to the official Xbox support channels:
I can’t personally check on the issue since I had the game to review it over a week early, but players are sounding off on social media with anger about how they can’t play the game yet. You’re not alone if this is the case.
