Of all the powers you can acquire in Pokopia, this is by far one of the most important and useful. It can also be a bit tricky to get, though, so here’s how to find Manaphy and learn Dive in Pokopia.

You can find Manaphy resting on a small island located near the upper northwest corner of the Bleak Beach region. This Pokémon will only appear in this region after you’ve completed the “Raise the environment level!” request in Bleak Beach, so if you don’t have this step done yet, you’ll need to keep progressing through the storyline until you complete it.

Once this key request has been fulfilled, you then need to meet up with Professor Tangrowth at the Pokémon Center in the Bleak Beach region. Chat with him there when he has the “What could it be?” text hovering over his head. He’ll then tell you about a strange new island that popped up just off the coast of the area, which is where you need to go to find Manaphy.

When the Professor is telling you about this island, the screen will pan over to it. But when the conversation ends, finding your way there on your own can be tough. To reach the island with Manaphy, start at the Pokémon Center, then head directly north on your map. Most of this trip will be in the water, so use Surf to reach the island.

How to learn Dive in Pokopia

Manaphy teaches you the Dive ability after you feed them five Seaweed. As soon as you land on the island with this Pokémon, chat with them to see what’s going on. Manaphy will tell you they’re hungry and ask if you can bring them some food.

If you don’t have Seaweed on you, traverse around the sandy island, as there are five pieces available there for you to collect. Bring all five pieces to Manaphy once you have them, and they’ll then teach you Dive. Manaphy tasks you with taking a dip into the nearby underwater cave to test it out, and once you complete this task, the Dive move is permanently unlocked.

How to unlock Manaphy in Pokopia

After your initial meeting with Manaphy, they’ll disappear, and you have to work through the Bubbly Basin storyline to actually unlock them. You’ll meet them again right when you’re about to complete the “Build the beautiful building” request.

Although Manaphy will show up to teach all players Dive regardless of whether or not you have the Bubbly Basin DLC, this Pokémon is exclusive to the expansion pass. If you don’t have it, you won’t see them again after you learn Dive, as they return to their home in Bubbly Basin once this task is complete.

Now that you know how to get around underwater, you’re ready to dive into Bubbly Basin. While exploring and adventuring around this special area, you’ll want to learn all Bubbly Basin Habitats so you can meet all the Pokémon who call this region home. You’ll have to move around all kinds of resources as you navigate this area, so consider prioritizing getting a Portal Pod early on to make things easier.
