Sample Canisters are perhaps the most important currency in The Division 2 if you’re looking to grind the active Y8S2 Into the Dark content. You can use these canisters to power up your modifiers (all types). As essential as they are, you’ll need plenty of them, and the canisters can be difficult to find.

Best ways to farm Sample Canisters in The Division 2 Y8S2
There are two major ways to farm Sample Canisters.
Toxic Dark Zone
The revamped Dark Zone has been added to the D.C. Map. With major reworks, this mode will feel fresh if you’re into the PvE side of things. You can find canisters by either killing enemies or getting them as loot from chests.
However, Sample Canisters aren’t a guaranteed drop. In simple words, you might not find any if you’re not in luck. The mode is also a difficult one for beginners thanks to how the toxin system works. You’ll need specific builds to make it work and survive long enough. You’ll have to defeat three rounds of enemies and then eliminate the boss to open the chest. If someone has opened the chest already, you’ll need to wait for ten minutes for it to reset, and this might be a problem.
Thankfully, there’s another solution if you want to avoid all these and still would like to farm Sample Canisters.
Retaliation
When you begin a Retaliation mission, clear the first assigned Control Point. This will vary based on your run. When you’re making your way over to the second point, deviate from the guided path. Look into the alleys, and you’ll get a chance to meet the Knock-Knock Gang.
When you defeat all of them, you’re guaranteed 30 Sample Canisters. If there are more than two control points in a single run, more than one Knock-Knock gang can spawn.
Unlike Dark Zone, there are no other ways to gain Sample Canisters from Retaliation. However, you’re guaranteed the item if you manage to find and defeat the Knock-Knock Gang.
How to use Sample Canisters in The Division 2 Y8S2 Into the Dark
Once you have found the Sample Canister, head to the White House. Then go to the Recombinant vendor, and you can then use the currency to get High-Quality munitions to power up your modifiers.
