The Into the Dark season brings a fresh set of modifiers to apply in The Division 2. While you will find some of them to be more rewarding for your builds, it will also increase the threat your enemies possess.
Let’s quickly go through the Seasonal, Active, and Passive modifiers that will be valid during the current season.

The Division 2 Y8S2 Global modifier
In Season 2, we will have to recover Sample Cannisters from Hyena activities all around the map. Then, we have to stop these materials from returning to the operations. There are two ways to use these canisters.
- We can submit them at the seasonal vendor. This will raise the Sample Size bar and unlock stronger High Quality Munitions bonuses.
- Active modifiers will automatically consume Sample Cannisters to trigger a more powerful surge version of their effects.
High-Quality Munitions are temporary buffs granted when you contribute Sample Cannisters. You’ll benefit from all unlocked bonuses when the buff is active. A reload will consume one stack, and the bonuses end when all stacks are depleted.

The Division 2 Y8S2 Active and Passive modifiers
Into the Dark will feature three Active modifiers.
- Invincible—focused on healing, armor repair, and temporary damage reduction.
- Pneuma—focused on weapon swap speed and stacking bonuses based on weapon types.
- Vicarious—focused on skill efficiency, skill damage, and supporting your allies with repairs and healing.
All three modifiers will have a Surge mechanic. Once you have enough Sample Cannisters, the Surge mechanic will be triggered automatically. Surge versions will amplify the base effect of a modifier by adding bonus effects and reducing drawbacks. It will also reduce Toxicity if you’re in the Toxic Dark Zone.
There will be nine different Passive modifiers split into three categories: Gadgets, Resistances, and Offensives. These modifiers will reduce Surge costs, and improve your resistance against Toxicity and Status Effects. They can also increase your High-Quality Munitions capacity and offer you new ways to debuff enemies.
However, always be careful about the additional enemy effects that will be active due to the modifiers.
