I get it. You want to stop playing a frustrating game and eject the disc from the PS5. You can certainly do that quickly. Here’s how to eject the disc from this system.

How to manually eject the disc from PS5

To eject the disc from the PS5, two different buttons on the bottom of the console. The lowest one turns off the PlayStation 5, while the top ejects the disc. Once you press the top button, the disc will leave the drive, letting you remove it. When you place a new disc inside like Forspoken, perhaps, make sure the reflective side is facing to the right, as shown in the picture above.

How to eject from the menu

Getting the disc out from the PS5 menu is a little more difficult. Head over to the game’s section on the main menu. Now, press the Options button, the one to the right next to the triangle. All the way down below “Keep in Home,” you’ll see an “Eject Disc” option. The PS5 will then remove the disc for you.

After you remove your disc from the console, make sure you keep it in the case rather than on your countertop so as to protect it from scratches, dust, or other damage. I lost too many games during my childhood by leaving them out of the case.

Can you use PS4 discs on PS5?

The PS5 is thankfully backward compatible with PS4 discs. In fact, some games, like Kingdom Hearts 3, will actually load faster on the PS5.
