How to construct a Weather Station in Lightyear Frontier

See whether the weather will fare well.

It’s not all sunshine and roses in Lightyear Frontier. Sometimes you have to deal with the crappy weather or an assault from flying weeds. Thankfully, you can at least prepare for the crummy skies of Lightyear Frontier by building a Weather Station.

To unlock the Weather Station in Lightyear Frontier, you first need to discover its blueprint by collecting certain materials. Softwood and Copper Wire are used in its construction, and gathering the latter will most likely drop the blueprint into your space farmer’s hands. Once you have the instructions on how to build it, you can easily do so after gathering the necessary resources. Naturally, that requires a few steps.

How to get the Weather Station blueprint in Lightyear Frontier

To get the Weather Station in Lightyear Frontier, you first must liberate a couple of biomes. You receive missions to clear each biome in the game, but the ones you want to focus on for the station are Pine Heights and Edge Cliffs.

Pine Heights, once restored, awards you in Red Crystal for Red Crystal Dust, which leads you closer to the Weather Station. It’s there you’ll also find Softwood, harvested from the Pine Trees that abundantly grow in the region.

Edge Cliffs, on the other hand, is what you need for Copper. You have to complete the mission ‘Restore Edge Cliffs’ to unlock Copper Ore early in Lightyear Frontier. After the area becomes rich with Copper once more, use your Saw Spike to gather some of the raw material from the ground.

Next, create Copper Wire by feeding two Copper Ore into an Assembler. If you don’t have the Weather Station before this step, you should have it now. You’ll need to also construct a Grinder to turn Red Crystal into Red Crystal Dust.

  • 10 Softwood
  • 10 Red Crystal Dust
  • 3 Copper Wire

Once that’s all complete, you can finally start construction on the Weather Station. Look for its blueprint under ‘Constructs – Essentials’ in the build menu. The station itself is rather small, so don’t worry about it taking too much space. I’d suggest placing it near your homestead so you can get a weather report every morning.

Weather conditions in Lightyear Frontier

With the Weather Station finished you can now get a glimpse of how the weather will fare for the entire week. It’ll show you the weather for the current day and six consecutive days.

Some of the weather events you should expect in Lightyear Frontier include:

  • Fair (sunny)
  • Foggy
  • Windy
  • Downpour
  • Thunderstorm

But you may be wondering what ‘Weed Seeds’ are about and why that constitutes weather. It doesn’t; it’s more of a pain in the ass. Every so often, Lightyear Frontier will present a ‘Hazardous Event’ challenge where your farm is under siege by flying purple weeds or floating pink blobs. They can damage your crops if you’re unprepared, but they do offer a way to get a certain material.

How to get Noxious Spore in Lightyear Frontier

To make Noxious Spore in Lightyear Frontier, you need to gather Noxious Pods during Hazardous Events. There are two events to take note of: Weed Seeds and Noxious Bubble. For ‘Weed Seeds’, use the Vacuum Harvester to suck in the floating Noxious Weeds before they touch your garden and destroy your plants. ‘Noxious Bubbles’ challenges you to splash the bubbles with your Irrigation Hose to wipe them out.

Both weeds and bubbles award you with the Noxious Pod material. Use the Grinder to turn the pods into Noxious Spore, which can then be used in crafting recipes earned by completing Artifact challenges. They’re also used to create Power Cores, useful materials that go into upgrading your mech.
