How to complete The Blocked Well quest in Tears of the Kingdom

Well guards, guard your well, well

Wells are a subtly vital part of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. They provide access to caves, hide treasure, and in The Blocked Well, keep some baddies away from the poor, innocent townsfolk.

This side adventure is part of the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line inĀ Tears of the Kingdom. In it, Link and his reporter pal Penn travel from stable to stable across Hyrule, helping local people and following leads on the whereabouts of Princess Zelda.

The Blocked Well kicks off at the Gerudo Canyon Stable, sitting right at the pass that leads out into the Gerudo Desert. Hard times have befallen this business, and you’ll find Penn staring down at a hole in the ground around the side of the stable.

It seems that, some time ago, Princess Zelda ordered this place shut off. You’re not really sure why, at first. Sure, Zelda is a monarch, but she’s not against enterprise.

Either way, you’ll need to descend into the well to figure out why it was shut down. And after blasting open the cracked wall in the well, you’ll figure it out pretty quick.

After annihilating the wall with your implement of choice ā€” I prefer a Zonai cannon strapped to a spear ā€” you’ll see a small group of monsters hidden inside. You’ll need to clear them out in order to clear the quest.

You can largely ignore the Like Like and the Lizalfos hiding at the back for now, and focus just on the closest enemies who will immediately aggro onto Link. Electric fusions onto arrows can help here, providing Link a method for disarming the enemies.

The Like Like should be simple enough, while the electric Lizalfos poses the greatest threat and should be saved for last. Clear everything out using any good weapons you’ve got, and once finished, Penn will come soaring down.

He’ll make the assumption that Zelda probably had the cave, and well, closed off due to these lurking threats. Seems like a good judgment call. Penn will hand you some rupees, as well as any awards you might have accumulated thus far in the Lucky Clover Gazette quest series, based on how many you’ve finished.

Head back into the well to pick up any monster parts you may have missed, and then head on back to Traysi at the Gazette for your next assignment.
