The Bean achievement in How to Fish is arguably the most difficult one to complete, and more so if you don’t know what it is. How to Fish is not a big game, and you can complete a playthrough in 5–6 hours. However, the Bean achievement requires you to complete the full game and defeat the final boss in less than an hour.

How to complete Bean achievement in How to Fish
If you aren’t concerned about achievements, I would recommend taking your time to complete How to Fish. It’s a really enjoyable journey that you can enjoy with your buddies and do all kinds of silly stuff across the different islands.
If you aim to complete the bin achievement, however, you will have to min-max in every situation. This will spoil the immersive experience because you will be skipping certain locations. Moreover, it’s easier to get this achievement done when playing on your own, but that’s not a requirement.

Lighthouse
This is your first starting location, and here are the key steps.
- Get Brass Knuckles and skip everything else.
- Upgrade the Brass Knuckles ($58) and get the Beer ($12).
- Try to 360 around every creature for a 1.5x multiplier that gets you more credits.
- Keep the $3 as your savings.
- Use the Dry Beer Can to lure the Spider Crab boss.
- Stay close to it to save time.
- Move aside as it charges in, and then hit it from the back while it’s dizzy.
Defeat the Spider Crab to get the boat keys, and now we will be heading to the Volcano. The Volcano is the last location, so it’s not ideal to go there directly from the Lighthouse, but we have just one hour.

To find the Volcano in an easier way, use the sun in the sky as your guide. It will be to your left and in front of you. The game also freezes for a brief moment if you’re close to the volcano, so that’s another hint. Don’t get the Radar because you won’t want to waste your coins.
Volcano
Once you reach Volcano, spend the $3 to get a Fishing Rod. Use the free lure to catch basic fish and grill them in the lava. This gets you a 1.5x price multiplier.
Now, we are ready for the upgrades.
- Get the Brown Beginner Lure for $3 (only to be used as Backup).
- Get a Dynamite and use it to get the smaller fish. Get as many as you can and grill them in the lava before selling them for money.
- Get additional inventory slots since it allows you to carry more grilled fish at any given point and save more time.
- Once done, buy the Shotgun.
- Get the first three bullet upgrades for the Shotgun ($20, $30, and $40).

Once you have captured all the basic fishes, switch to the Fishing Rod.
- Get the Pink Standard Lures for $15.
- Get the following upgrades for the Shotgun bullets ($200, $250, and $300).
- Next, get a few Orange Professional Lures for $50.
- Get the next set of Shotgun bullet upgrades ($1500, $2500, and $3000)
- Get a few Scientific Lures for $500 each.
- Get the final set of three upgrades for the Shotgun bullets.
Next, aim to have at least $20,000 so that you can purchase the Assault Rifle. Then, save to get all upgrades available for the weapon.
When it comes to the boss fights, always have extra food items in your stock to revitalize your life. Here are some key steps for bosses.
- Get the maximum allowed upgrade.
- Get basic fish with the help of Dynamite.
- Have extra food in your inventory.
- Watch the attack pattern of the boss for the first few seconds.
Things will get more complex with the whale, who is the final boss. Keep the healing items stored at the Military base, and try to lure it into the lava to do more damage. This boss battle will take a fair bit of time because there’s no shortcut/trick. If you can pass the hurdle, chances are that you’ll have made it within an hour of gameplay.
