Let’s face it, there’s always too much to do and not enough time in any cozy game, and Fields of Mistria has always been a victim of this curse. Tending crops and caring for animals always eats into the days, but now there’s an option to make the days longer.
As part of the second major update on March 10, players now have a new accessibility option to make time pass more slowly, allowing you to get more done each day. It’s an incredibly useful feature, not to mention a highly requested one, so it’s nice to know that NPC Studios is listening to player feedback and implementing these features into the cozy hit.
How to change time speed in Fields of Mistria

Changing the length of a day in Fields of Mistria is easy. All you need to do is head into the settings from the main menu or journal, head to the Accessibility tab, and then select “Day Time Speed” at the top. After a brief warning (more on that in a moment), you’ll have the option to change the length of the day between the following:
- Standard
- Longer
- Longest
According to the pop-up warning that appears every time you try to change this setting, NPCs within Fields of Mistria are optimized for the Standard day length, and you may face issues with certain events if you change the length of the day. However, I have played a full in-game week on both Longer and Longest, and I’ve faced zero issues on either day length.

That’s not to say that issues won’t occur outside of the two weeks I experimented with, but it is at least a little reassuring, I hope.
You’ll only feel the effects of changing this setting once you start a new day. The slower time begins from the moment you wake up. If you want to change the setting again, you’ll need to sleep before it comes into effect.
How long is a day in Fields of Mistria?

As part of my experimentation with time, I allowed a full day to pass without doing anything while I had a stopwatch running to test how long each option makes a day. I realize that I could have timed 10 seconds and then worked it out from there, but I’ve never been very good at math.
Either way. the difference isn’t huge. Here’s how long each day length lasts in Fields of Mistria:
- Standard: 12 minutes 30 seconds
- Longer: 14 minutes
- Longest: 15 minutes
Like I said, you’re not suddenly going to get hours of gameplay each day, but those extra couple of minutes make a difference if you’re trying to sneak in one last fishing trip or toiling away down in the Mines after breaking through the Fire Seal.
For the Stardew Valley veterans out there, in which a day lasts approximately 14 minutes between waking up and passing out, choosing the Longer option will put the length of each day on an equal footing in Fields of Mistria.
