How to beat the Champion’s Demise dungeon in Diablo 4

One of the best ways to grind EXP in Diablo 4

Recommended Videos

In a game with as many dungeons as Diablo 4 has, only a select few will inevitably stand out among all the others. The Champion’s Demise falls into this category.

You can find Champion’s Demise in Dry Steppes. It is located east of Jirandai, or directly west of the Ruins of Qara-Yisu if you have them unlocked. By beating Champion’s Demise, you’ll receive the Aspect of the Umbral, which any class can use. However, it’s the level design of Champion’s Demise that makes it notable. You’ll find densely packed mobs of enemies here, including a spread of elite enemies.

Because of this, many players have flocked to this dungeon to power level their characters. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this, as running one dungeon over and over can get ridiculously tedious. That said, I can’t deny it makes for a nice grind spot.

Of course, the same reason that makes Champion’s Demise appealing also makes it more difficult than most dungeons. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you can get killed from full health or waste time backtracking. Here’s what you need to know.

Where to find the Stone Carvings in Champion’s Demise

Right off the bat, Champion’s Demise offers a slightly unorthodox layout. You’ll find the room to the boss near the beginning, but you of course can’t enter it yet. That said, you should notice three peculiar triangles on your map. Approach these, and you’ll find some Stone Pedestals. To complete this dungeon, you must find three Stone Carvings and return them to here.

To do that, you’ll have to fight through dense waves of mobs. Honestly, for this point in the game, I don’t have a lot of advice to give. You want to prioritize Cairn Defiler and Shaman enemies, as they’ll turn specific foes into death traps. Defeating or crowd controlling any Shaman once you see them should save you. Otherwise, just hack and slash your way through the dungeon.

Once you find a Stone Carving, pick it up and deliver it to one of the Pedestals you found near the beginning. If the enemies give you trouble, slot Gems into your equipment or consider upgrading your gear at the Blacksmith. Otherwise, visit the spots listed below to find each Stone Carving.

Once all the Stone Carvings have returned to their rightful places, the door to the boss will open. The encounter beyond might not test you as hard as other bosses have, but it can still present a challenge to certain builds.

How to defeat the Khazra Abomination

For the most part, the Khazra Abomination doesn’t pack any convoluted mechanics to solve. However, it will constantly place poisonous puddles on the battlefield. This will drain your health quickly if you don’t pay attention, and melee players may have an especially hard time keeping their damage up because of this. For the most part, if you avoid the poison puddles, you’ll do okay.

Khazra Abomination mainly uses three attacks. When it swipes it claws, it will fling a ball of poison a small distance away from itself. When it digs its claw into the ground, it will spawn a poison field right underneath it. If you create distance between yourself and the boss, it will tend to use a rushing attack to close the gap. To the best of your ability, just try to stand directly outside any poison puddles it makes. If you see any part of your health orb turn yellow, you should move.

That’s really all there is to this fight. Keep yourself healthy as you hack away at the boss, and eventually you’ll get those sweet dungeon rewards. Whether you want to do this dungeon one or one-hundred times, I hope you get some good loot!
