Like all fuses, the Sidekick has its pros and cons. For starters, you can only use it when playing alone in a 1v1 situation. While the fuse limits certain functions and locks them out, you also get benefits in return.

How does the Sidekick fuse work in 2XKO

The Sidekick fuse, despite being fun to use, has certain stiff mechanics. In 2XKO, you’re always fighting in duos (even when playing in 1v1). When you’re playing alone, you control two characters. If you’re using the Sidekick fuse, you can only control and use one character.

Your second character remains unavailable for you to use in the match.

  • They can use Assists (both Super Assist and Push Assist) and Break, pending your input of the correct controls.
  • They can’t be included in any kind of tags.

Essentially, you can use your second character to support your primary, and even land a few Supers with the correct combos. However, you can’t switch them with a tag and make them the active choice in a battle.

Additionally, Sidekick offers certain benefits to the character you can control in the match.

As you can’t use your second character, you’ll get certain extra benefits from using Sidekick.

  • You’ll have access to Fury Break from the beginning of the match. Fury Break is a more powerful version of Break and activates the Fury state for your character. If the enemy is stunned, Fury Break will result in a wall bounce, allowing you to land combos that would otherwise not be possible.
  • You get +20% max HP and absorb 25% less damage when your health falls below 500.
  • Start the round with 2 bars instead of 1. You can have a maximum of 5 bars at any given time.

Sidekick requires you to master the basics, as you’ll be essentially playing with one character. Hence, you’ll need to spend time with your mains to understand their strengths and weaknesses to get the most out of them in a battle.
