While you’d never see me showing up to a human’s first birthday party (I hate babies!), I’ll come to a game system’s electronic software distribution’s party. WiiWare won’t get fussy or sh*t itself mid-party.
It isn’t the biggest games distro service out there, but it does have some pretty great titles in its lineup for only being a year old. HE’s got his daddy’s eyes. We’re happy to say that WiiWare weighs in at a healthy 81 games today. It’s grown up so big, with over 40 studios giving it love. Aww.
Nanny Cammie Dunaway says a kind word or two for baby WiiWare:
“The first anniversary of our WiiWare service is a milestone that marks how far the service has come and how much great content is currently available. We encourage everyone to get their Wii consoles connected to the Internet so they have access to the full range of WiiWare games.”
Okay, so she isn’t the best speaker at a party. But she means well. Games like World of Goo and LostWinds are something to be proud of, and upcoming games like Cave Story and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years show promise for the young one.
After the jump you’ll find a celebratory video that Nintendo put together for this occasion.
