The first weekend in Pokémon Go is here, and it means we can now work our way toward getting our very own astronaut Pikachu to our collection. We were already teased about this special cosmetic skin last month.
Let’s find out how to get this special version, which is actually a result of a collaboration with the European Space Agency.
How to obtain Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon Go
There are two major ways to get the special Pikachu for your collection:
- Participate in 1-star raids during the event.
- Complete timed research that will also be part of this event.
You will have to complete several tasks as part of this event to get a chance to encounter the Astronaut Pikachu. The easier approach will be to go for the raids directly, but you’ll want to get multiple encounters.

You’ll need to complete the following tasks to get the available rewards.
| Task | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Win a Raid | 2,500 XP |
| Win two Raids | 2,500 Stardust |
| Win three Raids | 2,500 XP |
| Win four Raids | 2,500 Stardust |
| Win five Raids | 2,500 XP |
Finish all five tasks, and you’ll get the following rewards.
- 2,500 XP
- 2,500 Stardust
- An encounter with Astronaut Pikachu
If you’re lucky, you can also end up with a Shiny Astronaut Pikachu. However, the Shiny has a 1/64 chance of appearing in a raid, so finding one will require a lot of luck. Hence, maximizing the encounters will be crucial.
