Don’t overthink it.
One of the many side quests you can pursue in Hogwarts Legacy is a quick puzzle room called the “Hall of Herodiana.” A fellow student named Sophronia Franklin can be found observing paintings near the Charms Class Floo Flame. She will tell you about a legendary professor named Herodiana who had so mastered the Depulso spell that she became famous for it. She was also rumored to have built a secret puzzle room in the castle. Her signature outfit is the prize for solving the puzzles in the hidden room. Here’s how to conquer the “Hall of Herodiana” quest.
First Puzzle
The first puzzle is only tricky if you overthink it. There aren’t any real instructions beyond the Depulso clue. When you enter the first puzzle, a pair of cubes as you have seen before are connected in the middle of the floor. There is also something dangling from the ceiling. The cubes have handles like many of the other options we have used Accio on before, so that’s your second clue.
The goal for each puzzle is to push (Depulso) and pull (Accio) the glowing cubes to the other side of the room so that you can climb up to the other side. A word of warning, however, is that these spells are amped up in this quest. When you use Accio, the blocks violently switch sides of the room. If you’re in the path, you get run over.
So the first puzzle is super easy as you learn the rules. Just use Depulso while your back is to the entrance and you are facing the wall you need to climb. The cubes will slam into place for you to climb.
Second Puzzle
The goal of the second puzzle is to connect the three blocks and push them to the wall to climb up on. The starting lineup has one cube floating on one of the side walls. The other two are connected, like the first puzzle, on the opposite side wall. This is where we learn that Accio and Depulso occur on the handle that you aim for. If you want to move the two cubes to meet the floating cube, you step out of the way, aim for the handles on the side, and cast Accio. They will slide across the room and connect to the floating cube in an “L” shape.
Then you can either get behind it and cast Depulso or pull the whole thing forward, toward the exit, with Accio. Sadly, there is a block in the way that prevents you from climbing. Stand out of the way and cast Accio on the side handles so that the whole thing moves to the opposite wall. Now you will be able to climb one block and then climb the wall to the exit.
Third Puzzle
The third puzzle is actually a little tricky. You will have to master your understanding of how the cubes move, and you will have to utilize the dangling thing I mentioned earlier. The extra piece in each room is essentially a reset button. It puts all of the cubes back into their starting position. That will be necessary for this last puzzle.
To begin, stand with your back to the entrance and aim at the side of the long block. Use Accio and it will slide to the right wall. Depulso on the end closest to you will push it forward. Now climb over to the opposite wall. Use Accio on the left side of the cube to pull it to you, and you will have the ability to climb onto the blocks and hop over to a landing zone on the wall.
Once you’re on the landing, aim at the reset piece to put the block back in its original position. You will be able to aim at one handle, so use Accio to move it forward across the room.
Now you can aim for the left side and cast Accio again. This will get you to the finish line and the third piece of Herodiana’s outfit! The rewards won’t blow you away, though her cape is pretty cool. Still, you get XP from completing a side quest, and it’s just kind of fun practice. Despite Depulso and Accio not making the list of 10 best spells in Hogwarts Legacy, I find both of these spells incredibly useful throughout the game. Especially when you have to take on the spiders or Inferi.
After completing the “Hall of Herodiana” quest, you can unlock the Depulso puzzle room.
