Tom Francis, the guy behind Gunpoint, has a treat for us today. He’s got a new game out on Steam called Floating Point and it’s free, no strings attached. Using your mouse, you swing through randomly generated levels while listening to peaceful jams from Form & Shape.

Reminds me a bit of PixelJunk Eden, which I adore. In a blog post, Francis explained his reasoning behind not charging money for the game: “When Gunpoint came out, and did well, I thanked those who bought it for putting me in a position where I didn’t have to actively chase money with everything I do. In return, I promised to ‘make new things for you!'”

Floating Point was initially created for the Ludum Dare game jam, but he continued to flesh it out, “and worked on it for as long as I felt it needed work. It was a fantastic experience, I’m really proud of the final thing, and I could never have done that if I was struggling to feed myself.”

[Thanks, reader named Tom who is not Tom Francis]
