Rockstar Games is presenting GTA 6 as one of the most realistic games of all time, building on its decades of work trying to perfect the balance between realism and arcade-y fun. A big part of that realism that went unrealized for so many years is, well, sexual content, and in particular, it seems GTA 6 will finally break the chain of the franchise having no explicit full-frontal nudity.
That is according to IGN, which interviewed GTA 6‘s Head of Development Rob Nelson, who also played the game during the conversation. After mentioning that each of the characters, both Jason and Lucia, has their own routines and does their own thing while you’re not controlling them, Nelson switched over to the former and, surprise surprise, the character was completely naked.

“At this point Nelson switches to Jason’s POV, where our hero is… naked,” IGN wrote. Turns out that Jason was in the shower, doing what you do in such a circumstance, and GTA 6 apparently didn’t hold back whatsoever in putting you in his shoes? Wet feet, in any case.
In prior entries, GTA has always gone hand over fist for the violence but always remained strangely conservative whenever nudity was in question. Whether it was the fallout of San Andreas and its Hot Coffee debacle, where players could mod in actual sex based on existing game files that Rockstar never removed, or just a general decision to avoid ratings (which were already 18+ almost everywhere) is unclear.
Society changed by a significant margin in the last 20 years and we’ve definitely become more tolerant of explicit sexual content in movies, video games, and all that stuff people read on BookTok, so I guess this decision to minimize censorship is just par for the course.
At any rate, GTA 6 is shaping up to be quite a realistic game in every imaginable way, but we’ll know for certain come Nov. 19.
