Gran Turismo Sport won’t have microtransactions, unlike the last iteration

Once upon a time Gran Turismo was a force to be reckoned with. I’d argue it’s still relevant, but in the ’90s and early 2000s a new Gran Turismo was coming out every few years, until the series kind of stopped in 2013 with GT6. Now it’s poised to make a return with Sport, which is due in October.

One point of contention with GT6 however was its microtransactions. Slowly but surely the practice wormed its way into several racing series like Forza, and with GT6 Sony succumbed as well. That’s all changing with Sport though, as series creator Kazunori Yamauchi noted that Sport won’t contain microtransactions.

This is probably a late in the game decision from Sony, knowing that their install base should see them through. Plus this doesn’t preclude DLC of any kind of course.
