Gran Turismo 6 GT Academy starts next week

Gentlemen, start your PS3s

The sixth GT Academy event starts next week. What is probably the coolest videogame-to-IRL transition ever returns as players of Gran Turismo 6 will hit the real tracks. Gamers become real racers. Again — coolest thing ever. Even though I’ll likely never race at one of these events, this opportunity is so amazing that I can’t help but get excited for those that will.

What’s also cool is that Canadians are eligible for play for the first time. Join us, friends!

Qualifying events kick off on April 21, so look for the qualification demo in Gran Turismo 6 soon.

“I am very proud that GT Academy has returned for its sixth season globally, and that Gran Turismo together with Nissan will once again serve as the platform for the development of new racing drivers who otherwise would not have had the chance to pursue their dreams,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo and President of Polyphony Digital Inc.

“Even if you don’t make it through to the next round of GT Academy, the GT6 qualifying challenge will improve your skills as a driver and all players taking part will be rewarded with in-game credits to enhance their experience.”
