Good Old Games is getting a new coat of paint and an expansion to their library. Although they will still be bringing old games that are good, GOG.com is expanding their library into the modern indie space. Starting today, they will be carrying Trine and The Whispered World, with Darwinia, Spacechem, and Machinarium: Collector’s Edition coming soon. They will also be taking pre-orders for Legend of Grimrock, a new roguelike due out in April.

Some newer titles will be priced a bit higher than the previous cap of $9.99. Given the fact that it’s newer content, that seems fair, especially given that GOG.com will still be offering everything free of DRM.

This announcement can only mean good things. As much as I love Steam, competition is almost always better for the consumer in the long run. We get more options; GOG.com looks a bit nicer, and will have a bigger library to boot.
