Art contests can really suck sometimes. They take energy and skill, and who has much of either these days? Easier to enter a contest that only requires you to post a picture of an ugly person, or maybe just a bad joke. That’s not too much work, right?

How about an art contest that combines that level of ease with an opportunity to make something that actually ends up in a videogame? Would you like something like that? Well, the Gaijin Games dudes abide. They just launched a contest on their site calling for submissions of 4-bit artwork for use in a stage in their mysterious new game, Bit.Trip RUNNER.

If Porky’s on the 2600 taught me anything, it’s that 4-bit sprites can be incredibly sexy. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. Make me horny, people!

You can DO IT! [Gaijin Games]
