Geon Cube is more super and Pac-Man than Super Pac-Man

Have you heard of Geon Cube? Yeah, I didn’t think so; I hadn’t either until I got this press release. That lack of press alone probably spells doom for this game. No matter how great it turns out, people aren’t going to buy it. No one wants to take a chance on a new puzzle game these days, unless ofcourse it’s built into Facebook, or it has an awesomely meaningless name like “Snood” or “Wiggletwats“.

That’s the main reason I’m worried about Geon Cube; the name. The game basically looks like a kick-ass new Pac-Man game, complete with 4-player versus mode, power-ups, and simple but gratifying combat. If Geon Cube were called Pac-Man Wii, it would be sure to sell a million copies easy, but without that brand recognition, I fear for the title’s chance at survival. Worse, when people suspect that a game may be a worthless clone of a game they already like (like Pac-Man) they tend to make a point to ignore it.

Well, I’m going to get Geon Cube when it comes out Oct. 20th, even if I have to jump through some hoops to do so. How about you? You interested in this?

Oh, and a video and full press release are available after the jump.
