New Characters: Wriothesley and Neuvillette

Wriothesley (confirmed as “rise-ly”) is a Cryo Catalyst user with an Ousia Arkhe. His Normal and Charged Attacks are a series of punches that deal Cryo damage. His Skill sacrifices some of his own HP to buff his Normal Attacks. When his HP is low, his next Charged Attack receives a buff and restores some HP. His Burst appears to deal Cryo damage in an AoE in front of him.

Given this information, Wriothesley is likely intended to be an on-field DPS. He should use his Skill, then Normal Attacks, and Charged Attack when his HP is below the appropriate threshold.

Neuvillette is a Hydro Catalyst user with a Pneuma Arkhe. His Normal Attacks deal ranged Hydro damage, but his Charged Attack is a unique laser that must be charged for several seconds. While the Charged Attack is firing, Neuvillette will gradually lose HP. He can consume Sourcewater Droplets to heal himself and charge his Charged Attack instantly. Sourcewater Droplets are generated from both his Skill and Burst, both of which deal AoE Hydro damage.

Neuvillette’s kit design seems to encourage maximizing Neuvillette’s Charged Attack damage and using him as an on-field DPS.

New Weapons in 4.1

There will be two new 5-star Catalysts: Tome of the Eternal Flow (Neuvillette’s signature) and Cashflow Supervision (Wriothesley’s signature). We can assume they will be featured on event banners together with their respective characters.

There will also be four new 4-star weapons: The Dockhand’s Assistant (Sword), Portable Power Saw (Claymore), Prospector’s Drill (Polearm), and Range Gauge (Bow). These will be added to the event weapon banners.

As an event reward, you should be able to obtain R5 of a free 4-star event Catalyst: Ballad of the Boundless Blue.

4.1 Banners

Neuvillette and Hu Tao will be the rate-up 5-stars in the first half of 4.1, while Wriothesley and Venti will make up the second half.

Presumably, Neuvillette and Hu Tao will be accompanied by Tome of the Eternal Flow and Staff of Homa. Wriothesley and Venti will likely run together with Cashflow Supervision and Elegy for the End.

The four new 4-star weapons will be split up among the weapon banners, though the exact distribution hasn’t been specified.

New Quests in 4.1

4.1 will feature the continuation of Fontaine’s Archon Quests, with the Traveler heading into the Fortress of Meropide.

Neuvillette and Wriothesley’s Story Quests will be available together with their banners.

Other World Quests are also likely, since 4.1 will feature a large new area to explore.

New Areas in 4.1

We’ll be able to access the ruins of the Fontaine Research Institute, which are floating in the sky amidst large cubes of water. We’ll also be able to swim inside these cubes to get around.

The Fortress of Meropide will be explorable too, and since we know the Fortress is underwater, we can infer that there will be a large underwater area to go with it. A large underwater cavern was shown too, with a strange blue structure inside it.

New Bosses and Enemies in 4.1

There will be two new bosses in Genshin Impact Version 4.1.

The Experimental Field Generator looks like a large Beyblade that generates a low-gravity field around it. It looks like it deals primarily Physical damage and has an Ousia power source at its core.

The Millennial Pearl Seahorse deals Electro damage and has a pearl that buffs it. If it’s like the normal seahorse enemies we see around Fontaine, then destroying the pearl will likely remove those buffs and make it vulnerable.

Two new Fatui enemies are coming too: the Frost and Wind Operatives. Not much was shown of them, but they do look cool.

4.1 Events

The events in Genshin Impact Version 4.1 include:

Waterborne Poetry, a collaboration between Hu Tao of Liyue and Venti of Mondstadt. There will be three minigames as part of this event. Completing all of them will reward you with the 4-star Catalyst Ballad of the Boundless Blue and its Refinement material.

Dodoco’s Bomb-tastic Adventure lets you go fish-blasting with Klee in a minigame that’s somewhat reminiscent of Bomberman.

Radiant Harvest is a minigame where you swim around to capture invasive jellyfish.

The Peaks and Troughs of Life is a combat event with quick-time events that trigger buffs.

The Forge Realm’s Temper returns for TCG enthusiasts and Overflowing Mastery means double drops in Talent domains.

Genshin Impact 3rd Anniversary Rewards

For the third anniversary of Genshin Impact, there will be a check-in event where daily logins will grant a total of ten Intertwined Fates and other materials. In addition to the check-in event, we’ll also get in-game mail with 1,600 Primogems, four Fragile Resin, and two new gadgets.

The first gadget is the Itty Bitty Octobaby, a new pet that’s either creepy or cute depending on who you ask. The other has an unnecessarily long name, but it basically lets you blow bubbles.

The 2x first-purchase bonuses on Top-Ups will also reset as soon as Version 4.1 is live.

Quality of Life Optimization

In addition to four daily commissions, there will be four Adventure Encounters. These are smaller quests that involve things like opening chests, participating in events, etc. Each of these can be completed in place of a normal commission and will refresh upon each daily reset.

If you’ve not reached World Level 8 yet, Ascension Quests will be made easier. The prompts to do your Ascension Quests will be made clearer too, so you’ll no longer be stuck at a certain World Level because you forgot you needed to do a quest.
