GC 09: Lionhead takes Fable II ‘Episodic’

Recommended Videos

In a bit of a surprising and puzzling announcement, Peter Molyneux and Lionhead have announced that Fable II — yes, the game that was released last October — is going episodic.

Called Fable II Episodic, Fable II will be broken up into five chapters, with each of the chapters said to have a “natural break.” The first chapter will be free to download; after the completion of the chapter, players will get the option to purchase the next chapter or the rest of the game. All of this happens in-game; there’s no need to navigate Marketplace menus or anything like that to continue play.

Fable II Episodic will be available on September 29, and will be fully compatible with “Knothole Island” and “See the Future.” Right now, there’s no details on pricing of the four paid episodes; we’ll update as we hear more.
