GameStop: ‘key’ Nintendo property coming later this year

Recommended Videos

Destructoid’s own Jim Sterling said that we should go with the headline “Nintendo’s false hope for 2009.” Nick Chester said that we should play with the word “key” by making up something ridiculous like Kingdom Hearts Wii confirmed for 2009!?!?

All joking aside, something is coming from Nintendo this year, according to GameStop CEO Dan DeMatteo. How does he know? Nintendo told him to reserve some shelf space.

“We think there will be a Nintendo key property coming out by the end of the year,” he told CNBC. “They haven’t given us any insight, but they have told us to reserve [shelf] space.”

Wait, don’t they reserve shelf space for every game?

Anyway, I’m sure he’s not referring to Zelda. We already know about the upcoming DS game, Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. What else could it be? A new Mario game?

In other news, but in the same CNBC article, DeMatteo says that he’d like to see a PS3 price drop. Wouldn’t we all? “That price point is clearly an issue in this economy,” he says.

To both these comments, I say no sh*t, Sherlock.
