Truly an epic battle for the ages.

Games were played this week and they were played by the staff at Destructoid. Read on to find out what those games were. Apply our wisdom to your life and be enriched.

Razak: I feel like a broken record, but with el movie site resume reading, other work and training for a half-marathon I’m still playing Batman and still playing Bowser’s Inside Story.

Sterling: Castlevania HD inspired me to replay the older DS games, so I spent much of my time my time playing Dawn of Sorrow, which is still a fantastic little game. Also still rocking The Sims 3 when I get a chance, and am keeping up with my hero in GodVille. That was about it, really. Slow week for games.

Chester: Played StarCraft II to the point where I just became completely overwhelmed by micromanagement and found the game too stressful to play, so I’ve stopped. On “Casual.” Yeah, I’m not very good at real-time strategy games.

Also been playing Dragon Age: Origins on the PC, which I’m finding to be more enjoyable than the console version I had attempted to play originally; it seems to both look at play better. Went through a few missions of the technically impressive Mafia II (no loading screens! great snow effects!), which I can talk about, but don’t want to since I’m reviewing a full version of the game later this month. Also Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising: Case Zero, neither of which I can talk about yet. I think I’m allowed to say that the game is full of zombies. A lot of them.

Holmes: Played BlayzBloo for a bit, review should be up now or later. Also played New Super Mario Bros. Wii single player, which is something I haven’t done in a while. I should change that.

Also, still dicking around in Persona 3 Portable, but that will likely change next week, after the Scott Pilgrim game hits PSN. I have the feeling that it’s going to be a life changer.

Finally, played some Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. I won some, I lost some, but the game is still fun either way. Still so many new techniques and combos to discover, feels like the replay value is infinite.

Ponce: Totally, completely, 100% trounced Bowser’s Inside Story over here. Suck on it, Razak!

I also started up a WiiWare game called Viral Survivor for review. It was released a few months back, but better late than whenever, right?

Razak: Damn you, Ponce! One day I’ll have my revenge!

Devore: Been playing the StarCraft II campaign a second time, and also grinding away like a fool in Castlevania HD. Let’s just say I’ve been missing some meals.

Lingen: I’ve always wondered what it’s like to do cocaine, and now I don’t need to. Because Starcraft II has to be a LOT like it. Now I need to pay attention to both micro and macro in my dreams, and every once in a while I’ll wake up in a cold sweat yelling “ADDITIONAL SUPPLY DEPOTS REQUIRED!”

So that’s what I’ve been playing all week. Starcraft II, Starcraft II, and more Starcraft II

Zimmerman: Most of my stuff is in boxes now but I managed to keep a 360 hooked up to a monitor to feed my Castlevania HD addiction. Played a bit of FrontierVille. I guess I’ll be down to portables soon.

Oregon, here I come!

Toletino: It’s been all Starcraft II on my end, with a few forays into Alpha Protocol, and, wouldn’t you know it, a couple of hours of Star Trek Online. They gave my Borg dude a laser sight.

Carey: Dipped my toe into the scalding hot water that is Castlevania HD, and promptly pulled it out again. Think I need to do some discrete grinding so that I’m not entirely dead weight for my friends next time around. Beat SEGA’s Shining Force iPhone port, and I was glad to have picked it up.

Most of my gaming time has been spent with Civ V this week, and it is scratching my turn-based PC itch like nobody’s business. Singularity is staring at me longingly from the shelf, but I have ignored it so far.

Concelmo: Of course, StarCraft II. It is so good and I am going to be playing it for a long, long time.

Also sat down with Monkey Island 2: Special Edition and Puzzle Quest 2, the latter being just as addictive as the first.

Sarkar: I went to an Activision event on Tuesday and played some Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (can’t talk about it yet) as well as one multiplayer round of GoldenEye 007 on the Wii (surprisingly fun, especially because I was playing as Oddjob — bwahaha!).

Otherwise, I’ve spent every spare minute this past week with Madden NFL 11. Look for the review tomorrow at noon EDT, but until then, check out my final preview from last Monday.
